Neat Stuff November - Great Design Resources

In this November issue of Neat Stuff, we’re going to be taking a look at some great design resources from around the web. These include tutorials, tips, galleries, and inspirational sources.

As well, this article contains a link to some neat icon sets that you might find useful in your designs.

Below are a number of great resources you can use in your designs, and as well, some inspirational sources to help you plan them. Enjoy!

Brushes and Textures

Since PSDTuts relaunched, their brand new freebie section has been taking off. It contains quite a few very useful brush and texture collections.

Tutorials

While it doesn’t appear to be being updated as frequently anymore, Tutorial9 has some excellent tutorials and resources on their site, including a “School of Photoshop” series of posts.

The Smashing Magazine tutorial section contains links to many tutorials from around the web. A great and valuable collection for new and experienced Photoshop users.

Icons

Once again, we’re at Smashing Magazine. Their freebie section contains hundreds of icons and logos, most of which are are completely free to use.

An overall great collection of icons of different styles, colors, and sizes.

Inspiration & Resources

BestWebGallery is a really cool collection of websites that are somewhat “in tune” with current design trends. This is an invaluable resource if you need some inspiration.

A blog containing pretty much anything about  web design, including Javascript, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.

Another blog run by the PSDTuts people, Creattica Daily is a showcase of cool design, be it fonts, websites, or anything else.

Digg’s design section has a broad range of content, including tutorials, icon sets, and inspiration.

A neat post about how to make your website usable and elegant.

Six Revisions’ showcase of amazing, dark designs.
